Every YouTube MCP Server, Compared
A year ago none of these existed. Today four YouTube research tools run their own MCP server, and four of the best known names in the category still run none. This page is the whole field: who has one, what each call costs, where the limits bite, and which one to connect for the work you are actually doing. Every fact was checked against the vendor's own pages on 3 September 2026.

What a YouTube MCP Server Is
A YouTube MCP server is a service that hands YouTube research tools to an AI assistant. MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, an open standard Anthropic published so assistants can call outside tools through one shared interface. You add the server once, and from then on Claude or ChatGPT can run the searches itself.
The change this makes is easy to miss until you have used one. Not connected, your research is a loop: you search in a tool, export or copy the result, paste it into the chat, and ask a question about it. Connected, the assistant does all of that inside one prompt, and it can chain steps. Find the outliers in this niche, read the transcripts of the top three, tell me what the comments asked for, and check whether anyone searches for it.
All four commercial servers here are remote connectors. There is nothing to install, and none of them use an API key for the chat clients. You paste a URL, sign in through OAuth, and the tools appear in the assistant's tool menu.

We build one of these four, so read the violet column with that in mind. Two things in this table are not in our favour and are worth saying plainly. TubeLab is cheaper, at $29 a month against our $49, and its transcript and comment tools are free while ours cost a credit each. vidIQ Max works out cheaper per call at list price, roughly $0.041 against our $0.098, and it has five times as many tools.
What we would put on the other side of the scale is the metering and the scoring. A flat credit with no daily caps and published top-ups means a long research day never stops early. And an outlier score measured against the publishing channel's own baseline is the thing that separates a genuine breakout from a big channel's ordinary Tuesday. Does TubeBuddy Have an MCP Server?
No. TubeBuddy has no MCP server and no public API. Checked on 3 September 2026, tubebuddy.com/mcp does not serve a page at all. It returns a 302 redirect to the TubeBuddy pricing page with an affiliate parameter attached, which is the same thing that happens to any unrecognised word on that domain. tubebuddy.com/api returns their 404 error screen.
That is consistent with what TubeBuddy is. It is a browser extension that works inside YouTube Studio, built as a certified YouTube partner on top of YouTube's own API. Its value is being in the page with you, which is not a thing a connector can carry into a chat.

Does ViewStats Have an MCP Server?
No. ViewStats has no MCP server, no official API, and no developer programme. Checked on 3 September 2026, viewstats.com/mcp renders the ViewStats Page Not Found screen.
One trap worth flagging, because it fools automated checks. The ViewStats site answers with an HTTP 200 for every path, including paths that do not exist. So a status check that only reads the response code will report that viewstats.com/mcp exists. Read the page title instead: it says Page Not Found.

Free and Community YouTube MCP Servers
Alongside the commercial servers, there is a healthy set of open source ones. They generally wrap the public YouTube Data API or yt-dlp, and they run locally rather than as remote connectors. They are free, and they are the right answer for a specific job: fetching transcripts and basic video metadata in bulk.
What they ask of you in return is setup. You create a Google Cloud project, generate a YouTube Data API key, and then manage your own daily quota. And what they cannot give you is any analysis layer. There is no outlier scoring, no semantic search over an index, no similar-channel discovery, and no keyword volume data, because none of that exists in the public API. Those are things a vendor has to build.

Connecting two is normal and often the right call. The one real cost is context: every connected server puts its tool descriptions in front of the model, so NexLev and vidIQ together mean over a hundred tools competing for the assistant's attention. Name the server in the prompt when it matters, and the problem disappears.

No. ViewStats has no MCP server, no official API, and no developer programme. Checked on 3 September 2026, viewstats.com/mcp renders the ViewStats Page Not Found screen. Its site returns an HTTP 200 for any path, so a 200 there is not evidence a page exists.
Is there a free YouTube MCP server?+
Yes, in two forms. NexLev's MCP server is free on every NexLev account while its launch promo runs, and vidIQ's is free on all plans during its own launch period. Separately, several community MCP servers wrap the public YouTube Data API or yt-dlp and cost nothing to run. Those community servers return transcripts and basic metadata, and you supply your own YouTube API key and manage your own quota.
What is a YouTube transcript MCP server?+
A YouTube transcript MCP server is a connector whose main job is fetching video captions for an AI assistant. Community servers built on yt-dlp or the YouTube Data API do this for free, and need a Google Cloud project and your own API key. Among commercial servers, TubeLab returns transcripts at no credit cost, and OutlierKit returns them for 1 credit and caches them after the first fetch.
Can I connect more than one YouTube MCP server at once?+
Yes. Claude will pick tools from whichever server fits the question, and these data sets overlap less than the tool counts suggest. The practical limit is that every connected server adds its tool descriptions to the model's context, so connecting NexLev and vidIQ together puts over a hundred tools in front of the assistant and can make it slower to choose well. Name the server in your prompt when the choice matters.

Does Social Blade Have an MCP Server?
Social Blade has no first-party MCP server. What it does have is a REST Business API, sold with prepaid credits, which returns channel-level statistics. That is a real developer product and it predates MCP by years. It is just not a connector, so an assistant cannot call it without you writing the glue.
You will find third-party servers on scraper marketplaces advertising Social Blade data over MCP. None are run by Social Blade. They scrape the public site rather than calling the supported API, which makes them fragile by design and a poor foundation for anything that has to work next month. The same caution applies to any scraper connector wrapping a product that has no public API.
