Two more details from TubeLab's pricing docs are worth knowing. Failed requests get their credit refunded, and cached responses cost nothing at all. Those are small courtesies, and not every vendor extends them.

What a TubeLab Plan Buys You in Calls

TubeLab does not name a minimum plan for MCP access. Credits are the real gate, because the four search tools are the only ones that spend them. These are the current United States prices, read from the plan catalog on TubeLab's pricing page on 3 September 2026.

Read that table next to the free tools list and the picture is clear. If your work is mostly reading, TubeLab is very cheap, because reading is free. If your work is mostly searching, the credits go fast. A channel search at 5 credits means Starter buys 40 of them a month. On our connector, every call is 1 credit, so Pro's 500 credits are 500 searches, or 500 lookups, or any mix you like.

TubeLab does sell top-ups, at tubelab.net/credits/top-up, though the prices only appear after you log in. Ours are published: $10 per 100 credits.

TubeLab MCP vs OutlierKit MCP

These two servers overlap more than any other pair in this category, so the differences are narrow and specific. Here they are.

We are not going to pretend TubeLab is the expensive option. It is not. Starter is $29 a month against our $49 Pro plan, and its free lookups undercut us on transcript and comment work outright. If price per call is the deciding factor and reading is most of the job, TubeLab is the better buy.

Where we would argue the other way is on what the search returns. TubeLab's outlier search works on keywords. Ours works on meaning, over an index where every video already carries a score measured against the baseline of the channel that published it. Add the keyword volume tool, which TubeLab has no equivalent for, and the shape of the research changes: you go from finding videos that match words to finding ideas that are working, then checking whether anyone is searching for them.

Which Server Wins Which Job

Running both is a sensible setup, and cheaper than it sounds. Let TubeLab do the free reading and let ours do the scored searching. Claude will pick correctly most of the time if you name the server when it matters.

Should You Connect the TubeLab MCP Server?

Yes, if you already use TubeLab or want the cheapest way to give an AI agent bulk access to transcripts and comments. It is well documented, honestly priced, and the free lookup tier is a real advantage rather than a marketing line. The gap to close elsewhere is search quality and keyword demand data.
