For narrative channel operators

Narrative YouTube is a production game. Win it before you record.

True crime, history, documentary, mystery, video essay — every video costs you $2,000 to $5,000 in scripts, voiceover, footage, and editing. Competitor Studio shows you which formats are winning in your niche, which sponsors are paying, and which outliers to model. From a single seed channel.

No credit card. Used by operators running channels in true crime, history, mystery, and documentary niches.

Most of your budget goes into videos you'll never know were the wrong bet.

You commission a script. You pay a voiceover artist. You license footage or pay an editor to build the visuals. Two weeks and three thousand dollars later, the video goes live.

It does 4,000 views.

You don't know if it was the topic, the title, the thumbnail, the format, the length, or the niche itself. You guess. You try again. Another two weeks. Another three thousand.

The channels that actually compound aren't lucky. They've decoded what their niche rewards before they commit to a video. They know which formats work. Which sponsors pay. Which audience segments click. Which outliers are repeatable patterns and which are flukes.

That's what Competitor Studio gives you. One channel in. An entire niche mapped out.

What you actually get from one seed channel

Enter any channel in your niche. Competitor Studio scans thousands of competing channels and returns eight modules of intelligence. Here's what each one tells you.

Module 01

Niche Mapping

What it shows

Where the seed channel sits in its competitive landscape, what sub-niche it dominates, and which adjacent niches share audience overlap.

What you do with it

Decide whether your niche is winnable for you, or whether you should pivot to an adjacent space with more headroom.

Module 02

Competitor Discovery

What it shows

Fastest-growing channels, highest-uploading channels, emerging channels under 50K subscribers, and the established players you already know about.

What you do with it

Stop benchmarking against the giants. Find the channels at your size that are winning right now and study them.

Thousands of competing channels identified across the niche
Module 03

Performance Benchmarking

What it shows

How the seed channel performs against the niche median on view rate, weekly subscriber growth, and views-to-subscriber conversion.

What you do with it

Know whether your 'good' video was actually good. A 200K view video in a 50K-median niche is a hit. In a 2M-median niche it's a miss.

Module 04

Audience Psychographics

What it shows

The specific viewer segments watching channels in your niche. Not 'men 25-44.' Real segments — what they're seeking, what frustrates them, what they want more of, what they reject.

What you do with it

Write scripts that match the psychology of the people actually watching. Choose hooks that match their drivers.

Module 05

Content Preferences & Engagement Triggers

What it shows

Which formats your niche's audience prefers (long single-narrator essays vs. multi-segment, archival footage vs. animation, slow build vs. cold open). And which engagement triggers consistently drive clicks in your space.

What you do with it

Stop testing format from scratch. Match what already converts in your niche.

Module 06

Outliers & Opportunities

What it shows

1,000 to 5,000+ outlier videos across the entire niche, with channel attribution, outlier score, view count, and recency. Sortable by recent breakouts or all-time outliers.

What you do with it

Build a model library. Know which video concepts have proven 5-10x performance in your niche before you commit a script to production.

Module 08

Comment & Funnel Intelligence

What it shows

Audience requests, recurring pain points, recurring praise, and the actual monetization funnels that channels in your niche use — lead magnets, newsletter signups, course sales, book sales, with examples.

What you do with it

Build content that addresses what the audience is already asking for. Build a monetization layer that matches what already works in your niche.

Audience comment intelligence and monetization funnel mapping

Three ways operators are using Competitor Studio

01

Niche validation before launch

You're considering launching a new channel — historical mysteries, true crime, science explainer. Before you commit eight months of production budget, you want to know: Is the niche saturated or is there headroom? What's the audience actually like? Do sponsors spend here or is it AdSense-only? Which formats consistently outperform? One seed channel in. Eight modules out. You make the call with data, not vibes.

02

Format pattern recognition across your space

You've been running your channel for a year and you're plateauing. You know the obvious top channels in your niche but you don't know what the under-100K operators are doing that's working. Competitor Studio surfaces the fastest-growing channels, the emerging breakouts, and the outlier videos across all of them. You build a model library of formats that work for channels your size — not just the giants.

03

Sponsor and monetization mapping

You're done relying on AdSense at $4 RPM. You want sponsor money or product revenue. Sponsor Intelligence shows you exactly which brands are spending in your niche and which categories are growing. Funnel Intelligence shows you which channels are running newsletters, courses, books, or services — with examples. You approach sponsors with data. You build a monetization layer that matches what works.

This isn't the right tool for every channel.

OutlierKit is built for operators treating YouTube like a production business. It's worth saying who it isn't for.

  • Gaming-faceless channels

Roblox, Minecraft, gameplay compilations. The niche dynamics are different and your unit economics don't justify a research tool.

  • ASMR, sleep sounds, or relaxation channels

AdSense-only revenue at low RPM doesn't support a $29/month subscription.

  • AI-generated faceless slop

We don't optimize for content that races to the bottom.

  • Hobbyists

If you're not spending real money per video, this is overkill.

If you're running a narrative channel with real production cost — scripts, voiceover, footage, editing — and every wrong-niche video costs you thousands, this is built for you.

Common questions

Does this work if my niche is small?
Yes. Competitor Studio scans thousands of channels per query, so even small niches surface enough competing channels to map. If your niche has fewer than 50 active channels at any size, the modules return less data — but you'd also know that, which is itself a useful signal.
How is this different from VidIQ, TubeBuddy, or 1of10?
Those tools find outlier videos. So do we, and we do it across an entire niche from one seed. What they don't do is map audience psychographics, sponsor landscapes, or monetization funnels. Competitor Studio is the only place you get all of that from a single channel input.
Do you support international/non-English channels?
Yes. The data is YouTube-wide and the analysis works in any language YouTube indexes. Audience psychographics work best when there's enough comment volume in the niche to analyze.
What if my niche is too new to have established outliers?
Adjacent-niche analysis helps. Map the closest established niche, study its audience and format patterns, and apply the insights to your space. Most narrative niches share audience overlap with one or two adjacent niches.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. No credit card required. You get trial credits to run Channel Analysis, Outlier Research, and a Competitor Studio teaser on Pro/Max trials.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Monthly plans cancel anytime. Annual plans are non-refundable after 14 days. Lifetime plans are non-refundable.
