What Is the vidIQ MCP Server?
The vidIQ MCP server is a remote Model Context Protocol connector that gives an AI assistant access to vidIQ's data and AI tools from inside a chat. Connect it once and Claude or ChatGPT can research keywords, audit a channel, pull a transcript, browse trend categories, generate production assets, and even watch a video and tell you what happens in it.
vidIQ does not publish a tool count. When we connected it in August 2026 the server exposed around fifty tools, which makes it the largest first-party YouTube MCP offering after NexLev. It is also the only one that reaches past YouTube: Reel Watch handles Instagram, and there is TikTok coverage too.

The vidIQ MCP Server URL and How to Add It
The vidIQ MCP server URL is https://mcp.vidiq.com/mcp. That single URL works for Claude, for ChatGPT, and for any other client that supports remote MCP servers over HTTP with OAuth. There is no package to install and no API key to generate.

Is vidIQ MCP Free?
Yes, for now, with a real limit attached. vidIQ's help center says the MCP server is currently available on all plans, Free, Boost, and Max, during its launch period. No end date for that period has been published anywhere. Officially, MCP is a Max feature, and Max is $49 a month or $468 a year.
Free access does not mean unlimited access. Every MCP call spends credits from your plan's monthly AI pool. The free plan gets 150 credits a month. At 5 credits per standard call, that is about 30 MCP calls, and then the AI tools stop until the next cycle. It is enough to evaluate the server. It is not enough to work with.
If you are budgeting for this, assume MCP needs Max. A launch period with no end date is a promotion, not a plan feature, and building a team workflow on one is how you get surprised.

Here is a number we are not going to hide. At list price, vidIQ Max is cheaper per MCP call than OutlierKit Pro. Max gives about 1,200 standard calls for $49, roughly $0.041 each. The one capability gap that is hard to close from the vidIQ side is outlier scoring. Our engine compares every indexed video to the baseline of the channel that published it.
