YouTube News Channel RPM: What Faceless AI News Channels Actually Earn
I pulled the faceless AI news niche through the OutlierKit API, then live-checked every channel in the sample. The short version:
- ·RPM: $5 to $13 per 1,000 tier-1 views. Above platform average, below finance.
- ·Reach: small channels routinely out-view their subscriber counts by 5x to 15x.
- ·Churn: half the cohort was dead or dormant within months of six-figure view spikes.
- ·The survivor: narrated analysis of a durable beat. Headline-chasing and TTS aggregation died.
This is the economics page for the news and politics niche. The production side lives in the daily AI news pipeline; every faceless niche ranked side by side lives in the faceless channel ideas hub.

YouTube RPM for the News and Politics Niche
The YouTube RPM for the news and politics niche is roughly $5 to $13 per 1,000 tier-1 views, per YTGrowth's 2026 news earnings estimates. The numbers that matter:
- ·Tier-1 RPM (US, UK, Canada, Australia): $5 to $13 per 1,000 views.
- ·Advertiser gross CPM: $9 to $24, before YouTube's 45% cut.
- ·Platform-wide average: about $3 to $8, so news sits comfortably above it.
- ·Globally mixed audience: often just $1 to $3 effective RPM. Where your viewers live matters more than the niche table.
- ·Caveat: published niche samples are small. Treat every table, including this one, as directional; our RPM benchmarks comparison flags the same gap in everyone's sourcing.
| Niche | Published RPM | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Personal finance and investing | $8 to $35 | TubeAnalytics |
| AI and technology | $8 to $20 | OutlierKit niches guide |
| News and politics | $5 to $13 | YTGrowth |
| Pets and animals | $2.50 to $7 | Statly |
| Gaming and entertainment | $1 to $5 | TubeAnalytics |
The most-searched comparison in this niche is news versus pets. Two bullets settle it:
- ·Rate per view: news wins. $5 to $13 against $2.50 to $7, so a tier-1 news view is worth two to three times a pet view.
- ·Revenue per video over its life: pets wins. Pet videos earn for years; news revenue arrives almost entirely in the first week. The drama channel RPM breakdown shows the same decay pattern.
How Much AI News Channels Make per Month
An AI news channel with one million monthly tier-1 views earns roughly $5,000 to $13,000 a month from ads alone. The math is views times RPM; rescale the table to your own numbers:
| Monthly views | Monthly ad revenue (tier-1) | What that looks like |
|---|---|---|
| 250,000 | $1,250 to $3,250 | 15 videos at 17,000 views each. A daily channel gets here fast. |
| 1,000,000 | $5,000 to $13,000 | The full-time line. Global US News hit 1M views on one video. |
| 2,500,000 | $12,500 to $32,500 | Daily News Report at its peak: 80,000 views per video, daily. |
The two verified survivors put real numbers on those tiers:
- ·mediaspacetv: 16,500 subs, 92,300 avg views, synthetic voiceover. Estimated $3,000 to $17,000 a month.
- ·北京が隠す中国: 4,700 subs, 13,200 avg views, Japanese text-to-speech exposés. Estimated $436 to $2,000 a month.
- ·Same production model, 8x apart in revenue. The gap is audience geography and topic durability, not effort.
The revenue mix warning
Few brands want their product read out next to a war update, so sponsorship demand is thin and ads carry the business. Budget on AdSense alone. If you want the sponsor-heavy version, cover AI tools instead: see the AI news pipeline page.
The Faceless AI News Cohort, Live-Verified
Every channel below is faceless and AI-produced. How this table was built:
- ·Found via two OutlierKit API
channels_searchqueries on August 25, 2026. - ·Live-checked the same day with
channels_videos. The status column is the part nobody else publishes.
| Channel | Subscribers | Avg views/video | Status, Aug 25 | Model |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| mediaspacetv | 16,500 | 92,300 | Active and earning | Narrated geopolitical doom analysis, synthetic voiceover |
| 北京が隠す中国 (Japan) | 4,700 | 13,200 | Active and earning | Text-to-speech economic exposé documentaries |
| Capitol Report Daily | 3,230 | 18,367 at peak | Uploading; recent videos get 20 to 50 views | Fast political news narration |
| Global US News | 8,230 | 46,771 at peak | 3 videos left, last upload 7 months ago | Breaking political commentary, AI composites |
| Geopolitical Brief Now | 5,190 | 11,494 | Dormant 4 months | AI-anchor geopolitical briefs |
| Daily News Report | 85,100 | 79,984 at peak | Channel gone | AI anchor reading human-researched scripts |
| Navy with kevin | 1,100 | 11,006 at peak | Pivoted to WWII history | AI-narrated naval news briefings |
| X10 NewsUpdate | 7,490 | 9,936 | Channel gone | Text-to-speech headline aggregation |
Read it twice:
- ·The upside is real. At news RPM, Daily News Report's 79,984-view average was worth $400 to $1,040 per upload; Global US News's million-view video alone grossed an estimated $5,000 to $13,000.
- ·The churn is worse than any niche I have pulled. Of eight channels: two still earning, three collapsing or dormant, three gone entirely, months after those numbers.
The Reach Ratio: Why Subscribers Neither Gate nor Protect News Views
The reach ratio is average views per video divided by subscribers, and in news it is the single most diagnostic number on a channel page. News distribution runs on browse and recommendations, not the subscriber feed, so recency beats relationship.
- ·Normal niches: 0.05x to 0.2x. A 100,000-subscriber channel averaging 10,000 views.
- ·This cohort: Capitol Report Daily peaked at 18,367 views per video with under 2,000 subscribers. Global US News put 1,000,000 views on one video with about 8,000.
- ·The good edge: a brand-new channel can hit five-figure views in month one. No subscriber moat to climb.
- ·The bad edge: no floor either. Capitol Report Daily kept its daily cadence and now gets 20 to 50 views. Its subscribers were never the source of the views.
A small channel massively outperforming its subscriber count signals demand outrunning supply; that is the outlier detection workflow. In news, always add the live check: last quarter's outlier is frequently this quarter's dead channel.
Four AI News Strategies, One Survivor
Every channel in the cohort runs one of four models. They look interchangeable in a search result; the live check shows completely different survival rates.
Narrated analysis (the survivor)
mediaspacetv: active, 16,500 subs, 92,300 avg views, est. $3,000 to $17,000/mo
- ·Long-form narrated analysis of geopolitics and economics, stock footage plus synthetic voiceover, aimed at tier-1 viewers.
- ·Topics decay slower than headlines, so the catalogue keeps pulling views between uploads.
- ·Both surviving channels in my pull run this model.
The catch: Slowest to produce. You write real analysis; the AI only saves you the studio.
AI-anchor daily briefs
Daily News Report: 85,100 subs, 79,984 avg views at peak. Channel now gone.
- ·A digital presenter reads daily briefs on whatever conflict dominates the feed.
- ·Scales beautifully while that story runs. That is the trap: these channels fused to one news cycle and died when it moved on.
- ·Geopolitical Brief Now, same model, has not uploaded in 4 months.
The catch: Build the anchor around a beat you can cover for years, not this month's war.
Breaking political commentary
Global US News: 1,000,000 views on one video with 8,230 subs. 3 videos remain.
- ·Fast, urgent coverage of whatever broke in Washington in the last six hours.
- ·The feed rewards recency hard: 5x to 15x views per subscriber during a spike.
- ·Capitol Report Daily still uploads daily and now gets 20 to 50 views per video.
The catch: Zero back catalogue, zero floor, and the sensational-headline version is exactly what the inauthentic content policy targets.
Text-to-speech aggregation (the dead one)
X10 NewsUpdate: 7,490 subs, 9,936 avg views. Channel now gone.
- ·Scrape headlines, summarize, synthesize a voice, publish hourly.
- ·Cheapest format to run and the one every tutorial still sells.
- ·No original input means no policy protection and no reason to pick your video over twelve identical ones.
The catch: Of the four models, this is the one with no surviving example in my pull.
The pattern: survivors use AI to compress production, not to replace editorial judgment. Analysis of a durable beat builds a catalogue; headline-chasing rents attention. Execution speed is covered stage by stage in the same-day production pipeline.
What an AI News Channel Is Worth
A monetized news channel is worth 12x to 18x its average monthly net revenue on the open market. The key numbers:
- ·YouTube channels generally: 12x to 36x monthly net revenue.
- ·News channels: the low end, 12x to 18x. Revenue stops when uploads stop, and the cohort table above is the buyer's case: half this niche did not survive six months under its own founders.
- ·Worked example: $8,000/month net sells for roughly $96,000 to $144,000. The same revenue in a faceless evergreen niche lists at 24x to 36x, or $192,000 to $288,000.
- ·Go deeper: valuation mechanics in the guide to selling a YouTube channel, deal venues in the marketplace comparison.
The systemization premium
News channels with a documented production system sell meaningfully closer to the evergreen multiple, because an AI-heavy pipeline is transferable in a way a personality never is. Write the system down as you build; it is worth real money at exit.
Will YouTube Monetize AI-Generated News? The Policy Line
YouTube monetizes AI-assisted news content when it carries original editorial input, and demonetizes it when it does not. The rule doing the work is the inauthentic content policy (renamed from "repetitious content" on July 15, 2025); YouTube's channel monetization policies carry the current wording. Applied to the four strategies:
- ·Synthetic voiceover on your researched analysis: monetizable. Disclose with the "altered or synthetic content" label when the media is realistic.
- ·AI presenter on the same terms: also fine.
- ·Hourly TTS aggregation of scraped headlines: the format the policy exists to catch. The aggregation channel in my cohort is the one that vanished without a pivot.
- ·Speculative "BREAKING" headlines: misinformation strikes hit news harder than any niche. Verification is a twenty-minute habit that keeps a six-figure asset monetized.
The enforcement wave already hit once: see the 2026 AI slop crackdown and the updated AI policy breakdown on our blog.
How I Pulled This Data: The OutlierKit API and MCP
Everything above came from a handful of API calls. I build OutlierKit, so here is the exact reproducible workflow:
- Map the niche with
channels_search. One semantic query returns channels, subscriber counts, average views, and top outlier videos. Sort by views per subscriber to find demand outrunning supply. - Live-check every candidate with
channels_videos. This produced the status column above. In a churn niche it is not optional: copying a dead channel's format is the most expensive mistake available. - Validate topics with
outliers_search. An outlier from a 5,000-subscriber channel is a green light; silence usually means no demand.
- ·In Claude or Cursor: the OutlierKit MCP server runs this whole workflow as a sentence: "find faceless news channels punching above their subscriber count, then check which ones still upload."
- ·Building a pipeline: start with the API build guide, the faceless content factory architecture, or the API overview.
- ·Team or agency? Book a 30-minute demo and I will run your niche through it live.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the YouTube RPM for the news and politics niche in 2026?
Roughly $5 to $13 per 1,000 views for a tier-1 audience (US, UK, Canada, Australia), against a platform-wide average of about $3 to $8. Advertiser gross CPM runs $9 to $24 before YouTube's 45% cut. A globally mixed audience earns much less per view, often $1 to $3 effective RPM, because tier-3 views monetize at a fraction of tier-1 rates.
How does news and politics RPM compare with pets and animals?
News and politics earns roughly $5 to $13 RPM against about $2.50 to $7 for pets and animals, so a tier-1 news view is worth two to three times a pet view. The trade-off is longevity: pet videos keep earning for years while a news video's revenue mostly arrives in its first week. Pets wins on back catalogue, news wins on revenue per view.
How much does a faceless news channel make per month?
At one million monthly tier-1 views, roughly $5,000 to $13,000 from ads alone. The two verified survivors in my August 2026 pull bracket the realistic range: mediaspacetv, a 16,500-subscriber geopolitics channel, earns an estimated $3,000 to $17,000 a month, and a 4,700-subscriber Japanese economics channel earns an estimated $436 to $2,000. Sponsorships are thin in general news, so ads carry most of the revenue.
Will YouTube monetize AI-generated news content?
Yes, if the content has original editorial input and realistic synthetic media is disclosed. YouTube's inauthentic content policy (renamed from repetitious content on July 15, 2025) demonetizes mass-produced, templated uploads with no real author input, which is exactly what unedited text-to-speech headline aggregation is. AI narration and AI presenters are fine when the underlying script and analysis are yours.
What is an AI news channel worth if you sell it?
YouTube channels sell for 12x to 36x average monthly net revenue, and news channels price at the low end of that range, typically 12x to 18x, because the revenue stops when the uploads stop. A news channel netting $8,000 a month is worth roughly $96,000 to $144,000. A finance channel with the same revenue would list closer to $200,000, because its back catalogue keeps earning without the owner.
Do you need subscribers before a news channel gets views?
No. News distribution runs on browse and recommendations, not the subscriber feed. In my August 25, 2026 API pull, Global US News put 1,000,000 views on a single video with about 8,000 subscribers, and Capitol Report Daily averaged 18,367 views per video with under 2,000 subscribers at its peak. The same mechanism cuts the other way: when recommendations cool, subscriber count provides no floor.
