30 lawyer video ideas that beat the channel average

These 30 video ideas for lawyers come from 14 YouTube videos that each got at least 5 times their channel's normal views. Nine of the 14 are on channels with under 10,000 subscribers. Every channel belongs to a practising lawyer or a law firm. I pulled the videos from OutlierKit on 7 October 2026 and sorted them into six formats. Each format lists five ideas and the videos behind them.

An example of the OutlierKit connector in Claude. The videos and multiples are real, pulled 7 October 2026.

What makes a video idea work for a lawyer?

A video idea works for a lawyer when the title names a legal task or a moment the viewer is in, and a channel near your size has proved people click it. Large channels get views on most uploads, so raw views are a weak test. Every example on this page is measured against its own channel: the multiple is the video's views divided by what that channel normally gets.

I ran seven searches on 7 October 2026 and kept videos at 5 times normal or higher. Then I opened each one on YouTube to confirm the title, the views and the publish date, and checked that a lawyer or a firm runs the channel. The tool is OutlierKit Outliers.

Which lawyer video idea should you film first?

Film the format that matches your practice area. A high multiple shows that people click on the idea. Check that those viewers are also the people who hire you.

How do you find more video ideas for your practice area?

Search the question clients ask in a first meeting, sort by how far each video beat its channel, and copy the title pattern that repeats. It takes about 15 minutes with Outliers and Keyword Research.

  1. Type the question into Outliers with your practice area, for example mistakes setting up a trust or severance agreement before you sign.
  2. Keep the videos at 5 times normal or higher on channels near your size, and check that a lawyer or a firm runs the channel.
  3. Write down the words that repeat across three or more titles. Those words are the pattern.
  4. Check the phrase has search demand in Keyword Research, then write your own title with it and your state.

Frequently asked questions

What should a law firm post on YouTube?
Start with mistake warnings: one mistake, one legal task, three to eight minutes. Then add numbered answers to the questions clients ask in a first meeting. Three mistake warnings from two firms with under 8,000 subscribers got 6 to 13 times their normal views.
How long should a lawyer's video be?
Short videos work for single questions. The two mistake warnings from one Georgia firm run about three minutes each. The other videos on this page run from 5 to 27 minutes.
Do lawyer advertising rules apply to YouTube videos?
They can. State bar rules on lawyer advertising cover communications about a lawyer's services, and each state sets its own. Check your state's rules on disclaimers, testimonials and case results before you publish.
How were these lawyer video ideas chosen?
I ran seven searches in OutlierKit on 7 October 2026, kept videos that got at least 5 times their channel's normal views, and checked each one on YouTube the same day. I dropped six candidates: channels not run by a lawyer, a video made for other lawyers, and one unsuitable thumbnail.
Can I copy these titles?
Yes, copy the title pattern and make your own video. Replace the brackets with your practice area, your state and your numbers.
Do these ideas work outside the United States?
Yes. One example is from a UK immigration firm. The formats work by naming a legal task and a place, so a lawyer in any country can use them.

Sources and method

Titles, views, subscriber counts and publish dates come from each video's YouTube watch page, read on 7 October 2026. Every example card links to the video and the channel.

I kept only channels run by a practising lawyer or a law firm, based on the channel and video descriptions. Several high-scoring videos came from channels with no named lawyer, and I left those out.

This page is about video topics and titles. It is not legal advice.
